Pre-ARRWhen Amata was just a baby, she was found by Julia and Marcellus Caelestis, a young Hyur couple, at an orphanage in Gridania. She was one of the youngest babies there at the time, and the only Au Ra, which drew Julia and Marcellus to her in the first place. Seeing this small and fragile baby resting, they fell in love with her straight away, and thus named her "Amata" when they adopted her.During Amata's childhood years, they would always go on little trips to local places and it's what made her interested in seeing more of Eorzea and the world when she was growing up.Amata was a rather boisterous child, she never did anything bad or picked up negative habits, only gaining a sense of adventure which her parents actively encouraged.Together they lived their days in Hyrstmill, content being in the Twelveswood but just outside the main city of Gridania itself.Unfortunately one day in her young teenage years, Amata lost her parents. They were killed by the Empire during one family outing that turned sour. At the time, Amata had been too inquisitive and crossed a threshold where imperials were patrolling. Being the boisterous child she was at the time, it unfortunately meant she had thought she was stronger than the soldiers who aimed their weapons at her, giving her one last chance to save herself. When her parents found her, they had used themselves as a distraction during an attempt to escape.This is where a fear of being locked in small spaces began festering; her father had all but thrown her over his arm when they bolted away, only to hide her in a storage box her mother had found whilst they were running. They told her to stay put for as long as possible. She dared not move out of fear, even when the gunshots sounded and she heard her parents cry out. The storage box had been moved somewhere along the way, perhaps after she had fallen asleep from exhaustion, and she wound up in a random camp. She was old enough to find her way back home and fend for herself, but the whole ordeal had left her scarred for life and blaming herself for her parents' death. She grew up to be calmer after that, and any anxiety or panic attacks she had would be dealt with alone away from prying eyes.She continued to stay in Hyrstmill for a time after that, but when she was in her later teens, she permanently moved from her house in Hyrstmill to instead choose a life as a sort of wanderer; she stayed at various camps, inns, and homes of people she was helping out. She was never truly at ease anywhere or with anyone after her parents passed, so ended up wherever her feet took her.

I multiship Amata with various NPCs and also other people's WoLs because multishipping is the spice of life and single shipping my WoL isn't an option when the possibilities for intricate and various interesting relationships can be found within the characters of FFXIV.For "canon" sake, in her main canon she has no current partner and I prefer it that way, save for the "had a crush on Haurchefant and was heartbroken when it was realised too late" that is a constant through different "timelines", if you will.Found family I'm a sucker for, so in all timelines she has NPCs and other WoLs who are constantly family to her that will never change.
